The Word in the Waking World - Kali Yuga

Caliuga?

I woke up with that word repeating in my mind this morning, like a message on an old answering machine.

"Caliuga. Caliuga. Caliuga." I had no idea why this word had called, and could not remember what it even meant. Was it a yoga pose?

I put the word into Google, our great collective hive mind, and at first Google asked, "Did you mean Caligula?"

("Cruel and tyrannical Emperor Caligula ruled Ancient Rome through fear and terror. Rampaging through Rome committing murder, adultery and acts of debauchery, his reign came to an abrupt end when he was brutally assassinated after only four years.")

No, Google. I mean Caliuga. The phonetic way I typed in the word, brought up another option (Sorry Caligula, maybe some other time).

Kali Yuga.

Yes, that is what I am hearing. Kali Yuga.

It is so familiar, but I cannot remember. What is it?

According to Yogapedia (Yoga's baby with Wikipedia I believe), Kali Yuga is part of Hinduism and is the fourth and present age of the world cycle of yugas. It is where we are, right here and now, in what is also often referred to as the dark age, which leads to destruction of the world and then the creation of a new cycle of the four yugas.

Kali Yuga (Sanskrit: कलियुग, romanized: kaliyuga or kali-yuga) means "the age of Kali (demon)", "the age of darkness", "the age of vice and misery", or "the age of quarrel and hypocrisy".

The years are given in divine numbers, on an entirely different scale - a time that stars and gods keep track in, not mere mortals.

"Kali Yuga, the fourth age in a cycle, lasts for 432,000 years (1,200 divine years), where its main period lasts for 360,000 years (1,000 divine years) and its two twilights each lasts for 36,000 years (100 divine years). The current cycle's Kali Yuga, the present age, has the following dates based on it starting in 3102 BCE"

Translation, we are JUST AT THE BEGINNING OF THE KALI YUGA DAWN.

Geeze.

But it makes some major sense. Around the time of the Kali Yuga start, 3100 BC, that was the dawning of written language, that was the start of civilizations, and all the crap that has come along with it. All the glory, all of the corruption, all of the imbalance we have come into with the earth.

Kali Yuga Dawn lasts for 100 cycles, which is 36,000 Earth years. That is the DAWN. We can expect an end of this cycle in 1,200 divine years - a mere 432,000 years.

"Kali Yuga began approximately February 3102 BCE, and will be Lasting for 432,000 years (1,200 divine years), Kali Yuga began 5,124 years ago and has 426,876 years left as of 2023 CE. Kali Yuga will end in the year 428,899 CE."

Satya Yuga (golden age, humanity existed as one)

Treta Yuga (the birth of war and disease)

Dvapara Yuga (divisions deepen, including the parsing of the Vedas into four books out of one)

Kali Yuga (the age of darkness and deception)

Ok, we should settle in, I do believe. lol.

Is it all doom and gloom? Nah. It never is. Things will for sure get harder because we have been living on borrowed resources, taking more than we should for a long time. The balance must come, and when it does, there will be a price, no doubt. We have become so addicted to comfort and convenience, and that allows even more manipulation and destruction to be accepted.

Yesterday I watched a video about how sperm count is rapidly declining, and how plastics (microplastics) are to blame. Well, heck - look around. We are inundated by plastic. It is what makes up food packaging, even for healthy things like salad. I am working towards becoming less plastic dependent, and holy heck is it hard. Convenience is hell in a hand basket.

That is the price we pay, the balance needing to be made, the punishment for our over-taking and imbalance with resources. That is Kali Yuga Dawn.

But we have a choice - within the circumstances of life, there are parameters, but also space for free will within that framework. I am choosing to bring down my plastic footprint. I am choosing to learn, love, and accept myself and others as they are. I am trying to be a better person, and live a life that leans towards giving more than I take.

The Kali Yuga is the reckoning, the transformation maximus. It is the old age and death of a period of time. It is a cycle, just like all the rest of them, but on a cosmic scale. And thanks to duality, and cognitive dissonance, we have a hard time understanding the purpose of this period of suffering.

Why do we need to go through this pain? Well because something must die in order for it to be reborn anew. If it wasn't forced upon humanity, humanity would NEVER change, and we would wallow in stagnation, and even harsher levels of dystopian living.

We need to come to a conclusion, a resolution after a climax, a complete obliteration and plutonic destruction in order to start again, growing fresh sprouts of life in the smoldering ruins of the old, sick, and imbalanced.

The gift of this suffering? Growth. The absence of complacency. The direct portal to the great spirit.

“My dear King, although Kali Yuga is an ocean of faults, there is still one good quality about this age: Simply by chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, one can become free from material bondage and be promoted to the transcendental kingdom.” — SB 12:3:51

God-realization. Transcendence.

If Hare Krishna works for you, great. If not, fill in the Hare Krishna with any pure and true mantra that fits you, and the connection you have to God, spirit, the divine, the universe - whatever you want to call it. Make it personal. Make it yours. IT'S ALL THE SAME MOUNTAIN, JUST WITH DIFFERENT TRAILS UP TO THE TOP.

The meditative practice provides a release from the material spell, and it ushers us into a space where the truth dwells, that love lives, where pure spirit whispers into your life. Meditation, mantra, awareness, love and release.

I heard your message this morning in my mind, Kali Yuga. I'm calling you back now with deep respect.

Pluto through the Houses

Natal Pluto Placement through the houses: These are inspired by Steven Arroyo’s descriptions in his book, Keys to Transformation, and I have added my own interpretations as well. If you want to find your natal Pluto house placement, you will need to know your birth time to get an accurate ascendent starting point. I would be very interested in how you feel about the description of Pluto’s placement in your own life - if it resonates with you? Also look to the house where Pluto is finishing up in Capricorn to understand if these topics have been dominant since 2008. Look to the house where Pluto will be in Aquarius to have a heads up of what potential topics may be on the docket for transformation in your life next. Your feedback is welcome! Pluto in the first house: Over time, your sense of self must be totally transformed, pluto energy used creatively can express in powerful concentration, and a remarkable depth into life's deeper meanings. Potential to deeply understand, but may
