2023 Mercury conjunct Pluto : Let's Go Deep into the Purple Rain

Are you ready to go deep?

Mercury conjoins Pluto on February 10, 2023 - a conjunction is when two planets combine their energies, and merge into one on the same degree of the zodiac. So Mercury, the planet representing communication, thought and perception, becomes more Plutonic, and Pluto the planet representing the process of breakdown, creating, regeneration and transformation, becomes more mercurial. With this transit, in the week leading up and up to a  week after, leave some space in your life for deep introspection, and the path of transformation within your mind.

This conjunction happens for the last time in Capricorn, where these two planets have been meeting up since 2008. Starting in 2024, we are coming into a new cycle, and the next mercury pluto conjunctions will be happening in the sign of aquarius until 2043. This is the last free dive into the capricornian depths, where our minds can see beyond the surface of the Capricorn transformation we have been experiencing.

Boiling Mercury conjunct Pluto down, it is an archetype of the obsessive detective, searching for answers, using deep and clever logic, using instinct and emotional wavelengths to discover the answer, the truth. That being said, being a detective is not unicorns and rainbows, and neither is this transit.

The conjunction flavoring the Mercury Pluto cycle is deep thinking and probing into this late degree of Capricorn. The sabian symbol for this degree is capricorn 29: a woman reading tea leaves. We may see the signs, but we also must know what they mean. Astrologer Dane Rudyar explains the meaning of this symbolism: :”As above and below, all is connected to, and mirrored by, all else…to see beneath form, facts, feelings and fear. These are all aspects of the glamor that we falsely see as reality and which covers the truth beneath. And that truth is the pattern that interconnects everything everywhere and always. We find the term seeker needs to be updated to troubadour – “I have found”. We have learned how to see clearly.”

This couldn’t lineup more perfectly with the purpose of Mercury Pluto Conjunctions - the reason they must come into our lives it to have a clear line, a divine call to the truth, even through darkness and fear, in order to see below the surface, to make meaning that is substantial and not at all superficial.

If you have strong Scorpio energy - sun, moon, rising, planets, or scorpio on one of your angles, I have a feeling this concept is already somewhat familiar to you or something you have experienced in your life path. It is the search, the journey into the cave of wonders, the challenge and the treasure to be found only by daring to go deep, deep, deep. If you do not relate to this energy, or are not accustomed to this Scorpionic flavored landscape, it may be a bit more challenging for you during this time.

Take some precautions and be extra kind to yourself, take a walk, or put this energy to use doing something very deep and productive.

The conjunction of Mercury and Pluto in 2023 is not making any major aspects to any of the other planetary players, which means there is no other archetypal influence coming through on this meeting. They are uninterrupted in their summit. Right after the conjunction of Pluto and Mercury on February 10, Mercury enters Aquarius - February 11th, carrying the message and memory of Pluto to the sign where they will meet again until 2043.

This morning I saw a video of an older gentleman belting out Prince’s purple rain, and it was so excellent - he was just reaching into his depth and his pain, and it inspires contemplation.

Prince once explained the meaning of this song -

“When there’s blood in the sky… red and blue = purple. Purple rain pertains to the end of the world and being with the one you love and letting your faith/God guide you through the purple rain,” Prince said of the song’s meaning.

The Word in the Waking World - Kali Yuga

Caliuga?  I woke up with that word repeating in my mind this morning, like a message on an old answering machine.  "Caliuga. Caliuga. Caliuga." I had no idea why this word had called, and could not remember what it even meant. Was it a yoga pose? I put the word into Google, our great collective hive mind, and at first Google asked, "Did you mean Caligula ?" ("Cruel and tyrannical Emperor Caligula ruled Ancient Rome through fear and terror. Rampaging through Rome committing murder, adultery and acts of debauchery, his reign came to an abrupt end when he was brutally assassinated after only four years.") No, Google. I mean Caliuga . The phonetic way I typed in the word, brought up another option (Sorry Caligula, maybe some other time).  Kali Yuga.  Yes, that is what I am hearing. Kali Yuga.  It is so familiar, but I cannot remember. What is it? According to Yogapedia (Yoga's baby with Wikipedia I believe), Kali Yuga is part of Hinduism and is the fourth ...

Pluto through the Houses

Natal Pluto Placement through the houses: These are inspired by Steven Arroyo’s descriptions in his book, Keys to Transformation, and I have added my own interpretations as well. If you want to find your natal Pluto house placement, you will need to know your birth time to get an accurate ascendent starting point. I would be very interested in how you feel about the description of Pluto’s placement in your own life - if it resonates with you? Also look to the house where Pluto is finishing up in Capricorn to understand if these topics have been dominant since 2008. Look to the house where Pluto will be in Aquarius to have a heads up of what potential topics may be on the docket for transformation in your life next. Your feedback is welcome! Pluto in the first house: Over time, your sense of self must be totally transformed, pluto energy used creatively can express in powerful concentration, and a remarkable depth into life's deeper meanings. Potential to deeply understand, but may ...

Mercury Retrograde Timeline April - June 2023 and Explaining "What are Sextiles?"

This Mercury Retrograde Going to be Good - Detailed Timeline Until June 2023 Mercury turns retrograde in Taurus on April 21, just a day after the big season opener Aries Solar eclipse, and will station direct on May 14. Quickly, a mercury retrograde is something that happens three or four times a year, for about three weeks, and it appears from our vantage point on earth, that Mercury is moving backwards across the sky, instead of forwards.  In addition to the eclipse, we have some big Pluto activity as the sun squares Pluto for the first time, and of course a second new moon in Aries, hosted by Mars in its fall in cancer. What does all of this mean? Well, lots of changes are coming, and thanks to this retrograde of Mercury, we have some time to think about what it all could mean. Over the next three weeks, Mercury retraces its steps through several sextiles to Mars (already had a 1st sextile april 8), Venus, and Saturn (sextiled mercury already once april 5), and gets two m...
